Discrete Sampling:
Direct Environmental Drilling Inc. and its Geopropbe 6620DT is able to conduct many of the functions of Convention Drilling Rigs. Direct Environmental Drilling Inc. is able to retreive soil samples using its 4.25in (Inner Diameter) Hollow Stem Augers or its 6in Solid Stem Augers, in combination with the 66HD Automatic Drop Hammer to provide SPT blow counts and soil samples.
Direct Environmental Drilling Inc. can also provide the added benefits of Direct Push Technology for your discrete samples. By using the Macro Core Soil Sampling System or the Dual Tube Soil Sampling System, Direct Environmental Drilling Inc. is able retreive soil samples at its clients desired sample intervals. This method is quicker then conventional drilling and provides samples that are uncompromised. A further benefit, is that it produce no soil cuttings, very little to no surface disturbance and hole diameters are very small (2.125in - 3.25in depending on sampling system) reducing material costs.
The discrete Macro-Core Sampling System used by Direct Environmental Drilling Inc. consists of a standard Macro-Core sampling tube, cutting shoe, and piston point. A 1.25in. "centre rod" probe rod serves as the inner rod system and holds the piston points in place. The sampler is driven to depth with 2.125in. probe rods. Once the desired sampling intervals is reached, the 1.25in. inner rod system is removed. The sampler is then driven through the sampling interval to collect the soil sample. The piston point is easly displaced as the sample is collected. This easy displacement helps eliminate sample compression so sample recovery is not compromised. Once the sample is collected the tool string is removed and sample retrieved.

The discrete Dual Tube Soil Sampling System works similar to that of the Macro-Core Sampling System, with the added benefit of a cased hole for continuous soil samples and Monitoring Well Installation. The Dual Tube 3.25in. outer casing is driven to predetermined depth with the 1.25in. probe rods attached to a solid drive tip and cutting shoe. Once the desired interval is obtained, the solid drive tip is removed with the inner 1.25in. probe rod string. The Dual Tube Sampling Sheath and liner are lowered to the disired interval. Continuous sampling from this depth is now possible. Once the final soil sample is removed, a 1" monitoring well can be installed if desired. These wells can also be installed with 1" prepacked screen and PVC risers to make rapid installations.

Continuous Sampling:
Direct Environmental Drilling Inc. uses two systems to provide continuous soil samples, the Macro Core Sampling System and the Dual Tube Sampling Systems. These soil sample systems provide rapid continuous soil samples in 5 feet intravels in a matter of minutes.
Dual Tube Sampling Systems are efficient method of collecting continous soil cores with the added benefit of a cased hole. Dual tube sampling uses two sets of probe rods to collect continuous soil cores. One set of rods is driven into the ground as an outer casing. These rods receive the driving force from the hammer and provide a sealed hole from which soil samples may be recovered withourt the threat of cross contamination. The second, smaller set of rods are placed inside the outer casing. The smaller rods hold a sample liner in place as the outer casing is driven one sampling interval. The small rods are the retracted to retreive the filled liner.

Groundwater Sampling:
Direct Environmental Drilling Inc. is able to retreive groundwater samples without the installation of expensive monitoring wells. Direct Environmental Drilling Inc. uses the Geoprobe SP16 Groundwater Sampling System. This system works by probing to the desired groundwater depth, where the 1.5" rods are slightly retreived to expose a stainless steel screen is exposed. A screen shealth forms a mechancial annular seal above the screen intravals. Now by using a check valve and poly tubing a water sample can be acheived.

Monitoring Well Installations & Decommisioning:
Direct Environmental Drilling Inc. and its drill operators are certified to install and decommission monitoring wells under Regulation 903. Direct Environmental Drilling Inc. can install 2in. monitoring wells using it 4.25in. (Inner Diameter) hollow stem augers or 6in. solid augers. As well, Direct Environmental Drilling Inc. can install rapid 1in. monitoring wells using the Dual Tube System. This system can also install 1in. prepacked screen with PVC risers for even quicker installations. As well, with the Dual Tube System, little to no soil cutting are produced and little to no ground disturbance.

Standard Penetration Testing (SPT):
Direct Environmental Drilling Inc. and its Geoprobe 6620DT is not only the most effective tool for your environmental drilling and probing needs, but also great for your geotechnical needs as well. Direct Environmental Drilling Inc. is able to provide Standard Penetration Tests (SPT) using the DH66 Automatic Drop Hammer. This accurate Hammer operates at 45 strokes per minute from auxilliary hydraulics, eliminating ropes or cables for operation. As well, all moving parts, including the 140lb. (64kg) weight, are enclosed in a protective steel cabinet for operation safety.
The Geoprobe 6620DT mast is just over 12ft, making SPT blow counts in-doors ideal. As well, SPT blow counts can be obtained using the Dual Tube Sytem minimizing soil cutting, reducing material costs and ground disturbance.
